I guess it’s a sign of the times but I find it hard to hide my frustration sometimes. When I see a barefoot child walking down the main street of my home town, I feel like vomiting and crying at the same time. Leather shoes made this country great back in the early 50s and now everyone seems to have turned a blind eye to the fact that footwear has fallen out of favour in a really big way. What ever happened to the days when a man could be proud to wear his slip-on loafers out to dinner without fear of retribution?

A recent study proved what I have been ranting about for a long time. More people cut their feet open while walking barefoot than when clad in a hardy pair of thick, rubber soled boots. I rest my case! Well, actually I don’t. What sort of a fool decides to wear rubber thongs or leather sandals to a wedding? Please tell me why you would make your baby wear baby shoes, insist your husband wear steel-cap boots, and then step outside into the big wide world with nothing on your feet except the skin God wrapped them in. It’s sheer lunacy!

Is it a crime to hate shoes and everything they stand for? No, but when you step on a big rusty nail don’t come crying to me. I’m just sick to death of this whole anti-shoe campaign that has been waged against the pro-shoe lobby. This is a war that has been raging on for centuries and nothing I can say will change that, but consider what I write and consider it immediately. Your feet deserve the right to be protected by quality footwear. You don’t have the right to treat your feet like yesterday’s news!
